Chapter 5ノ2:故郷でのポートレート/最後の嘘(2005年頃)

業界を引退する数年前のこと。
心の奥に残っていた蟠りと向き合い、昇華させるために選んだ方法は、やはりポートレートでした。
自分の存在、ルーツを再確認するため何度か故郷に戻り、肉親や自然の中で働く人々のポートレートを撮影しました。
そして大きくプリントしたそれらの写真を部屋中の壁に貼り付け、眺めながら自分自身と対話をしていました。
この蟠りを解決することにより、明確に現れてきた自分に対する最後の嘘。
ここでの出来事もまた、後に業界を引退する大きな理由のひとつになっています。
Chapter 5 - 2 : Portraits from My Hometown / The Last Lie
Around 2005
A few years before leaving the photography industry, I found myself confronting something that had remained unresolved deep within me.
Once again, the method I chose was portraiture.
To reconnect with my roots and rediscover my own existence, I returned to my hometown several times and photographed members of my family, as well as people whose lives were closely connected to the land and nature around them.
Afterward, I printed those portraits on a large scale and covered the walls of my room with them.
Surrounded by those faces, I spent countless hours in conversation with myself.
As I gradually worked through what had remained unresolved, something else began to emerge.
The last lie I had been telling myself.
What I discovered during this period would later become one of the major reasons I chose to leave the industry.
Looking back now, these portraits were not only about the people I photographed.
They were also about finding my way back to myself.
